If you're reading this, welcome.
The Table is where we'll share the stories behind Olive & Cord—the recipes, traditions, places, and quiet moments that continue to shape our journey toward a more intentional way of living.
Olive & Cord didn't begin with a product.
It began with a question.
What if a beautiful life isn't built around having more, but around noticing more?
Years ago, I found myself drawn to the Mediterranean way of life. At first, I thought my fascination was about the food. The olive oil. The bread. The long lunches. The simple ingredients.
If you know me personally, you're probably laughing and saying, "It's the siestas."
And honestly... you're not entirely wrong.
I've always admired the idea that rest doesn't have to be earned. That slowing down isn't laziness. That sharing an unhurried meal or stepping away from work for a while isn't time wasted—it's simply part of living well.
But while studying for my master's degree in public health, I became fascinated by the world's Blue Zones—communities where people regularly live long, healthy, and deeply connected lives. What fascinated me wasn't simply what people were eating. It was how they were living.
Meals were shared.
Purpose was woven into everyday life.
Neighbors knew one another.
Time was protected for conversation, family, rest, and gathering around the table.
The more I learned, the more I realized that the Mediterranean lifestyle isn't a destination or a checklist. It's a way of approaching everyday life with greater intention.
Today, that curiosity has grown into something we never imagined.
A small corner of Sicily has become our home away from home, where each visit teaches us something new about slowing down, embracing the seasons, and finding joy in the ordinary. Soon, we'll harvest our very first extra virgin olive oil from the trees surrounding our home—a milestone that feels less like an accomplishment and more like another chapter in a journey that is still unfolding.
We certainly haven't mastered Mediterranean living.
We're learning it one meal, one conversation, one collection, and one season at a time.
And perhaps that's the most beautiful part.
You don't have to change your entire life overnight to begin living more intentionally.
You don't have to move to Sicily.
You don't need a perfect kitchen or endless afternoons.
Sometimes it begins with baking an olive oil cake on a Sunday morning.
Sharing coffee with a friend.
Taking a quiet afternoon to rest without feeling guilty.
Choosing to linger just a little longer around the table.
That is what Olive & Cord has always hoped to offer—not perfection, but permission.
Permission to slow down.
Permission to notice.
Permission to gather.
Here at The Table, we'll share the recipes, traditions, reflections, and lessons we're collecting along the way. Some will come from our home in Sicily. Others from our own kitchen in Florida. All of them are offered with the hope that they inspire a few more meaningful moments in yours.
Thank you for pulling up a chair.
I hope you'll join me here often.
There's always room at the table.
With gratitude,
Jenn
